Stitchonomy did not begin as a large platform or a structured business plan. It started as a creative outlet. Designing patterns was something we were already doing long before there was a website, a brand name, or a clear direction. Over time, that creative practice grew into something more structured, more intentional, and eventually into a fully developed platform.

The early ideas

In the beginning, the focus was simple: create patterns that felt balanced, clear, and thoughtful. There was no pressure to scale or expand. The work was driven by curiosity and the desire to refine technique. Each new design became a small experiment in composition, color, and structure.

As more designs were created, a consistent style started to emerge. That consistency laid the foundation for what would later become Stitchonomy. The patterns were no longer isolated projects but part of a growing collection.

From project to platform

Turning a collection of designs into a platform required structure. Files had to be organized, instructions standardized, and systems built to make everything accessible and sustainable. Stitchonomy was created to provide a stable environment where patterns could be developed, shared, and continuously improved.

How we work

Behind the scenes, the work is methodical. Designing patterns is only one part of the process. There is also research, refinement, testing, website maintenance, and long-term planning. Each design goes through multiple iterations before it becomes part of the collection.

The goal has always been clarity and usability. Patterns need to be easy to follow, visually coherent, and technically consistent. That requires attention to detail and a willingness to keep improving.
