When you sell a pattern through Stitchonomy, you earn a commission on each sale. This article explains how we calculate commissions and what determines the amount you receive.
Fixed vs. tiered commission #
Each vendor has their own commission agreement. We usually use a fixed percentage for each sale, which we agree on during your onboarding process. In the future, we may offer tiered commissions that reward higher sales volumes with a higher payout percentage.
For now, your rate stays consistent unless we discuss changes with you directly.
Commissions are calculated before tax #
By default, your commission is calculated based on the pre-tax amount. This means:
- Stitchonomy keeps the tax portion of the sale
- Your commission is a percentage of the product price before VAT is added
This setup keeps tax handling clear and ensures Stitchonomy handles VAT reporting and remittance properly. You do not need to calculate or manage tax on your end.
Example #
Let’s say your pattern sells for €6 including VAT.
If VAT is 21%, the pre-tax amount is €4.96.
If your commission is 50%, you receive €2.48.
The VAT (€1.04) stays with Stitchonomy and is reported to the tax authority.
Shipping and extra fees #
Since Stitchonomy only sells digital patterns, there are no shipping costs. If we ever add physical products, the same logic applies: commission would be calculated on the product amount, not on shipping or tax.
